This meant it was one of the best ways to play Minecraft on a budget - it works great with the Vita Edition of Minecraft (which has all the features the console editions have).
Unfortunately, due to neglect from Sony for the entire family of Vita consoles and several other factors, the PlayStation TV didn't do nearly as good as expected. You can commonly find the console for around $50 online, or even cheaper.
Sony has recently stopped shipping the PlayStation TV in Japan, so once current supply runs out there won't be more. It's likely Sony is getting close to discontinuing the PlayStation TV in other regions of the world as well.
If you currently own a PlayStation TV, you should be alright for the time being. Despite how poorly the console did during it's lifetime, it's hard to imagine Sony would shut down online services for the console before the Vita itself.
